Hard to assume anything these days. Some of the older HDMI-input units were simply video passthrough/switching. Newer ones carry audio/video on HDMI and will switch and/or process the audio along with the video. Most also will correlate the HDMI video with a digital or analog audio input and switch them together.
The only way to know is to access, download and read the user's manuals for the items that interest you.
