Looks like the end of the RPTV era will mean that real bargains can be had.
I ordered an extra lamp for my JVC LCOS yesterday, just in case. JVC says they're good for 7500 hours, but early lamp failure seems to be a relatively common problem.
I still like the picture on my set better than any of the flat panel alternatives, save the 1080p plasmas from Pioneer and Panasonic. We watched Seabiscuit on HD-DVD the other night, and the picture was often stunning, with incredible dimensionality and sharpness.
