Moreover, it is about the highest quality HD that comes from Dishnetwork. As you probably know, there is some variation in HD quality from program to program, but for some reason the opera broadcasts all have stunning HD resolution. They are only on one weekend day on the Gallery Channel, 9472, and they repeat the same opera several times during the day. As I type this today, Sunday, they are showing La Boheme in superb HD. It really has to be seen to appreciate how well this can be done. The La Traviata production was set during the Nazi occupation, and the camera work was outstanding. It was almost like you were present at the opening party scene . In fact in general the camera work is very thoughtfully done. The productions are generally European. I haven't seen these available on disc, but they should be if they aren't.
