The answer depends. Try both and see.The typical reason and it depends on the receiver is that many convert all analogue to digital. This means that you can't really bypass the internal CAD and get an extra A-D stage which may be noticeable. A general reason to use digital direct if possible.
While the DACs may be pretty much the same, they may vary in the analogue section so they *might* sound different. Adding the extra cable may also have an effect. You may like set-up better than another.
Of course, if you had 96/24 disks, you'd want to use your DAC to take advantage of that.
