>>> "The move comes after this morning's shocking revelation that Paramount and DreamWorks have switched allegiances exclusively to rival HD DVD" <<<

Better get used to it JI, neither of these formats is going to 'tank' while both are satisfied holding their ground and making incremental gains! :o)

This press release makes VERY clear, and in no uncertain terms, that the high definition format war is going to continue for a very long time, perhaps ad infinitum. As I see it, the actual winners will probably be multi-format player manufacturers. As hardware prices decrease folks will opt for Blu-ray/HD-DVD capable players and exclusivity deals won't matter nearly as much.

Even though ZS KEKL seems determined to make this into a major format war debate (see thread directly below), neither of your carefully spun points should be seen as a subject for either funeral or bragging rights. For the time being both formats are hunkered down in their respective trenches looking out over No Fan's Land while trying to develop a workable strategy for getting through the other camp's barbed wire & beyond the bad PR mine field.

So far, for every Fox hole there's been a Paramount parapet. ;0)
