in our bedroom, love it! Using a Motorola 6200 HD box (w/DVI input), also feed it via the other HDMI input with an Oppo 970 DVD player. Mounted on the wall with a swivel Peerless wall mount, from Costco.

My wife originally wanted a pedestal LCD model, the Panny was'nt that much more than the higher end 32" LCDs.

Don't know about the other Panny unit you mentioned, but the 77U has the non-reflective screen. Not quite as glare proof as a LCD, but much better than the non-coated plasmas.

The set does well with HD and standard def. Check out AVS, they have an "owner's thread" for both models.
