Paramount does NOT want to lose potential customers for the second and third seasons of the Original series by switching format horses in mid stream. That would not only screw over those who purchased the first season at a premium price with the promise of future seasons in HD, but with rare exception it would likely limit the interest in Blu-ray only versions of seasons two and three to those folks who HADN'T purchased season one.

Keep in mind that the 1st season of the original series sold quite well on HD. Food for thought.
