Hmmm... the best eq selection may be in pro audio, but that can be expensive. Perhaps check out Sweetwater or better yet call them at 1-800-222-4700 for digital equalizers/processors and mention optical in and out. I believe AC3 will have to be downmixed to 2ch PCM (Sony DVD players should do that) and forget about DTS... There's also the Sony TAE9000ES preamp which has fun digital eq and cinema effects at $1.2K discounted, but that preamp has noise issues with low gain amps and/or low efficiency speakers.
