After spending several weeks looking at different technologies and models, and after several months of reading, I bought the Sony 50" SXRD about a year ago. I'm very happy with it,most of the time it's used for dvds but I do watch a lot of HD sports. The fast-action scenes are sharp and clean and off-axis viewing (which is not really a concern for me) isn't too bad. This year's model will accept a 1080p input where as mine will not. I don't think that's a big deal but it's worth mentioning. Both display at 1080p and it simply looks great in a low-light room. Get it and enjoy, you can drive yourself insane second guessing.
