Philip DVP 5500S convert to region free problem

I bought this DVD player in Nov 2006 in China and am very happy with the sound playing both CD and DVD. But it is not region free. Following what i read on th enet to convert it to region free, that go to system-preference-input 135566-ok does not work at all.
Any advise on how to convert the region as I could not play the US and Eurorepan DVD I have?
