Recommendations needed for 3-channel HT

TVs, VCRs, DVD players, Home Theater systems and more.

Well, I held out as long as I could, but finally have to take the HT plunge.
My set up will accomodate only 3 channel. I plan on floor standing full range speakers and a center channel. Not a bass freak so no plans for a sub.
Any recs for electronics that might work in this situation? Budget about $2K for receiver and DVD player. (Sorry, I spent the bucks on the 2-channel)
I'll be using efficient speakers so 70w/ch should be enough.
