I've had a Panny TH-50PX600U now for about 4 months, after looking closely at Pioneer Elite, and Sony KDL46XBR3. Needless to say, the Pioneer and Sony are considerably more $$$, but not considerably better in overall PQ.

The Panny is very, very good, and of course is a much better value at this point in time. I bought an Oppo 981 to bring things up to date for me, and have to say that standard DVD looks amazing, and HD broadcast is excellent overall.
