By itself it would be OK, but put it next to the drect view and you don't want to look at it. I think a small increase in size hardly justifies large loss of quality. The direct view is so much purer, sharper and brighter, it was an easy decision for me. Although the 40" is actually more compact. The more I use that 34" the more I love it.
