I am running a Sony XBR36 and a Sony S530 DVD player.I am using a monster brand component cable with no trouble. Just check all you connections and make sure there good.
Check your Sony TV settings. I believe you can adjust the "Tilt" of your screen.
Also run the digital audio cable if your system supports it.(Coax or optical) You will love the improvement in sound!
