I have the 53" HS10, and only the size of my room kept me from getting the 61". It is a great value for the money and if you shop around you can get that one for a lot less than $3K. I got the 53" for $2369 and could have gotten the 61" for less than $200 more. The TV is great and with everything up in the air on the HDTV format it is the best of both worlds. It will convert to a 16X9 format in the video five mode placing all the signal in the 16X9 and eliminating the possibility of lines forming on the screen. This is also superior to some other 4X3 TV's that just down size the picture. That leaves me with a about a 49" TV, still bigger than the 46" TV I had before this one. It accepts a 1080i signal for HDTV with composite hookup in the Video 5 mode. AT least you are not throwing away $5 or $6K for say the Pioneer Elite (my personal favorite) only to see it obsolete in a year. I like the picture, and it is a great transitional set until we see which way everything is going. The only downside is it does not have 720P. I can not help you on the 480P DVD as I don't own one. THe HS series is actually about the same specs and set up as the current XBR, but is a lot better than previous years model. The new XBR due out this summer will surpass it in quality I am told. It will also cost a lot more money. Good luck, but I don't see where you can go wrong if you bargain around and get it close to the prices I did.Larry
