Samsung BD-UP5000 dual-disc-player report

Finally bought one Saturday, no thanx to Circuit Shitty's continuously poor customer service.

In no particular order:
1. It plays discs of both formats. I haven't tried DVDs or CDs.
2. PQ is quite good, probably as good as that of my Toshiba HD-XA2. (I'm using HDMI to my 67" Sansung DLP-type RPTV.) The sharpness set on High makes the image very grainy and UGLY; I'm using None.
3. Audio quality seems as good as the Toshiba's; I'm using 6-channel analog to my c-j MET1 preamp. The 1st day there was some low-level breakup noticeable in the centerchannel, but it disappeared yesterday.
4. Of the 17 hi-def discs in my unwatched pile, it played 14 HDs and BDs. It will NOT play 'Tears of the Sun' and 'Sunshine' BDs and 'The Kingdom' HD. I'll be trying to update firmware today.

So far I'm happy. I've been an HD DVD fan as I really don't like consumer-electronics-bully-Sony, but I now have maybe 2-dozen BDs. Many have really clunky menus, and even on a Sony BD player, they require more time to start and switch to the next thing. How this format was adopted by ANY studio other than Sony's is beyond me.

I see only one advantage to BDs--many have higher-res sountracks, even six channels of 48/24 PCM, than HDs, but with highly artificial movie audio, that's a minor advantage for me.
