They have been putting a lot of attention and effort into it, but I haven't heard where or how it will be released. If you sit in an upper balcony, you can watch a close-up of the stage on a HD screen. At first I thought it was silly and would be a distraction in a darkened theater, but I came to like it quite a bit. The camera work was very well done, you could see the expressions on the faces clearly, and the PQ was very high. I especially liked it for the Magic Flute, with its elaborate sets and costumes.
A I wrote before, almost every weekend the Gallery Channel on the Dishnetwork carries an opera in HD. In fact the PQ for these productions is the among highest that I get of any HD broadcast on Dishnetwork. The original material must have been recorded with considerable care.
