Combine the ass dragging from Canon after securing the rights to make SED a real product with the following info:
Canon purchased the rights to use the intellectual property and patents for SED production. Canon didn't have the resources to make it happen. They entered into a partnership with Toshiba. Toshiba therefore had access to the IP and patents to make SED production a reality. Original patent and IP holder stated that Canon didn't purchase the rights to share the IP and patents. Canon dropped plans for SED production because 1) their lawyers knew they would lose in court Big Time and 2) the ass dragging allowed plasma and LCD time to ramp-up production and decrease costs. Even if Toshiba would have been allowed to build it, the competition would beat them at the wallet.
In 2009, Pioneer, Panasonic and Hitachi plasmas using 10-lumen tech will make you forget SED even existed.
