Go with 1080P and an hdmi 1.3a input for some future proofing.

Make sure to watch the set under the conditions you will have and the type of show and source. Sports, blu ray, bright etc.

Time is on your side, the sets, as a whole, are getting better and cheaper. Or at least the perfromance over price ratio is getting bigger with time.

We'll have to agree to disagree about human caused global warming until the next global cooling scare comes along.
