I dunno if I "need" to spend even $1299 for a home theater receiver even at a discount. While I'm super-critical for my 2-channel gear, home theater just has to be decent for me to enjoy watching movies. For example, the $200 Panasonic digital receiver and JVC digital receiver I got from eBay new are plenty for me personally for HT. JMHO..
