My old Pioneer Elite 520 had gotten very dark in the last year. Its been three years since I had cleaned it. Its the last non-flat panel TV in my two houses. I made an appointment to see if one last cleaning could brighten it up so I could get through one more year. When the tech arrived, he called me and asked if I wanted an ISF calibration. Cleaning and minor calibration was $300, ISF including cleaning was $500. I went for the ISF.
What a major difference. Now it looks as good as my new Panasonic 50" plasma at my beach home. I think I can wait a coupla more years before I replace this RPHDTV.
