RE: What id contrast ratio in projectors and TV's ?

Basically contrast ratio is the ratio of the brightness of the brightest whites the screen can display to the darkest blacks it can display. There are variations on how it is measured but that's the basic story.

Higher is better, but you also need to consider how black the blacks are. Black level is important on it's own, as well as for it's role as a contributor to contrast ratio.
