DTS-HD Master Audio vs Dolby TrueHD

It is virtually impossible to compare them for what movie has both? But I am noticing that the majority of big movies seem to be favoring DTS-HD.

On a related note. I bought a Sony BDP-350 a few months ago knowing spec 2.0 and DTS-HD was soon to come. I also got an H&K AVR 254 so sending it a bit stream through the HDMI cable will give me a pre out since I have a nice Sunfire Home Theater amp.

Originally, there was no DTS-HD decoding available for it, it was awaiting a firmware update. Also at first I noticed no difference between Dolby TrueHD and just Dolby. Anyways, the firmware update arrived but then DTS HD didn't seem to be better than any other format too.

Then I bought "A Christmas Story" on Blu Ray and it had no audio! I went through the Sony BDP-350 manual which was not a lot of help so went through the settings again and got sound. Not only that, but the H&K AVR 254 display started displaying DTS HD and Dolby True. Then I started noticing that the DTS and Dolby HD tracks really sounded great. They pushed the limits of my sound system.

Now I can indeed notice the difference between Dolby/DTS and Dolby/DTS HD. Massive improvement in dynamic range and a cleaner sound. Now my sound is "High Definition" like my TV.

Worry not, Sarah Palin will fix it all in '12
