OK. I have tried to understand the different setups for the audio signal from my newly acquired Panasonic DMP-BD35. I am using a Rotel RSX-1055 receiver, which lacks the HDMI input. So, the video is sent via HDMI directly to the TV and the audio to the receiver via an optical cable. Settings for the BD player audio signal were set to "bitstream". When I use the BD player to play music CDs, I notice that all signals are handled as 44 Khz or 48 khz at the most, even for recordings at a higher rate. Is this a limitation of the optical cable, the receiver, or an incorrect setting in the BD player? I tried understanding the BD player's manual, but it doesn't help much.
