Just picked up a Kuro Elite 111 50" for my friend. It is gorgeous, and so rich that it almost is beyond real. I can see where people might say where it's just too different, and not like it.
She decided to get a TV, - as her amp, and DAC/preamp has no remote, - so that she can just flick on the TV really quickly for a few minutes without caring. The detachable speakers are removed, - and I mounted them on the wall behind some curtains so you can't see them; this works out brilliantly as the TV is also mounted in a corner on the wall.
When we scoped out both models in the store, - we couldn't tell any picture quality difference between the non TV and TV versions. But, they also were not using the best testing methodologies.
The worst thing in 1954 was the bikini; see the girl on the TV dressed in a bikini; she wouldn't think so, but she's dressed for the H-Bomb!
