RE: interesting blu audio poll

It is so pathetic that we have come to the point of classic films being run through the digital sausage-maker in the interest of making them look "better". I recall some moron complaining about the Criterion release of 'The Third Man' because "it had too much grain"......

It is interesting that for years, CD producers have had no problem saying: "This CD has been mastered from older/analog sources, and as such, the CD may reveal shortcomings from the original source material" or some such. At least people can't say they haven't been 'warned' if it bothers them so much.
Why can't we have the same on Blu-Rays: "This movie was shot on film and digitally remastered. As such, you will see fine film grain in this HiDef digital remastering. This is not a shortcoming; simply an accurate representation of the original, high-quality film master."
