So, I go out and buy this 46" Sony LCD television. The one just below the XBR. Nice set. And I upgrade my cable package to include HD stations. $2K for the set, $10.95/mo for the HD service. But in many cases while viewing HI DEF stations, my 46" tv is giving me a picture slightly SMALLER than my old 32" Sony tube model. They cut off the top 4" or so, the bottom 4" and a couple inches off each side and leaves me with a picture smaller than the one I replaced. Is this like a video practical joke on all of us or what? Maybe I don't understand video, but why do they do this? Yes, I can stretch or zoom the picture, but then it's not really hi-def anymore, is it? Television seems to still be a decade behind audio....annoying.
