Home Video Asylum

TVs, VCRs, DVD players, Home Theater systems and more.

My intitial reaction to that is 'GOOD!'

They've put countless individual stores out of business over the last 20+ years, so now they can feel the heat. Netflix is cheaper, easier, and has an unbeatable selection with a growing list of streaming choices. Purchasing a disc is a reasonable alternative in many cases to renting.
That said, I hope that the price of a Netflix membership is kept in check if Blockbuster goes under, and when Hollywood Video folded the film business as a whole was affected. Despite my dislike of Blockbuster I hope they stay around.
