The strength is the processing, which is exactly what you want anyway. The amp stage is fine for surrounds and center, but leave the heavy lifting to a dedicated power amp. Denon makes very reliable, easy to set up AVRs that have the most current processing features available. I've had several and all but one are still seeing regular use with friends/family.
