Netflix downloads / Internet streaming ?

Is the hardware/software inside a Blu-ray player enabling netflix downloads /internet streaming any better/worse compared to one of the new players like WD TV Live Plus...or are they all using the same/similar technology? I'm trying to decide in which type of player to feature this functionality.
