I have an LG BD550 Blu-Ray play hooked up via an 8 ft HDMI cable to my Sony Bravia flat screen tv. When I play a DVD or BR disc I have to turn the volume on the tv nearly all the way up (80+) in order to hear dialog. Most of the other (non-speaking) sounds are easily audible at lower levels. I've tried using the compression setting (or whatever they call it) on the Sony but it doesn't help much.
When I am watching a program on the tv (w/o using the LG Blu-Ray player) I don't need to crank the volume, Both the dialog and non-verbal audio are audbile at about 35 on the tv's volume scale. This leads me to believe the volume issue is due to the LG player and/or the HDMI cable.
If anyone has any suggestions on addressing this issue, please share. I'd love to hear them!
Thanks,
PdL
