... no less than 40"; 46" is still good in a cozy room - like a movie screen.

Decide from the picture you like best, but realize some LCD's have more tweakable parameters to optimize picture quality.

For overall juice its Sony for me, though recently Samsung's motion quality has finally improved to equal Sony I think.

(Side note: Prices for >50" are getting ridiculously affordable now, so a 37" seems way overpriced as you will probably want to dump it sooner than we used to in the age of CRT's.)
