I was researching TVs and wanted to focus on the 50 inch range. Unfortunately, these are few and far between in LCD/LED sets. They are all either 46/47 inch or jump up to 55 inch. What happened? It seems just last year, 50 inch was still commonly available.
So now I'm thinking 46/47 inch sets like the Sony Bravia KDL46HX820 or maybe the XBR46XH929 (kinda pricey so maybe, maybe not). I also looked at the Samsung 7000 series with the very cool thin bezel around the screen but I thought I saw a lot of graininess on dark scenes. I also read of similar complaints in the reviews on Amazon dot com. People were also experiencing difficulty getting the QWERTY keyboard side of the Samsung remote to pair up with the TV.
I always thought Samsung was a top rated brand for LCD/LED TVs but after reading a lot of negative reviews, I'm hesitant on them now.
Any thoughts on Samsung vs Sony in the 46/47 inch class? Which of these offer full LED illumination vs LED edge illumination? Does it make a huge difference in picture quality?
