blu-ray stand alone vs. computer

Any opinions re audio/video quality comparisons of stand alone blu-ray players vs. playing from a pc via power dvd or tmt? I would think a major advantage would be the ability to utilize, for 2 channel audio, the same high quality usb dacs that are used for one's computer audio system, which far exceeds the sound quality of any stand-alone player. video quality may be a different story.
