My symptoms were:
My Panny BD55 (2009). has work flawlessly since new. Yesterday I attempted to play a new Star Trek DVD disk "Into Darkness". All I get is a big Blue screen with thin stripes about 1/4" inch a-part. There's also a very thin green line just about an inch above the bottom with some reddish spotting sprinkled end to end for some reason. Reminds me of the old CRT screens when you lose the vertical
I've tried everything. I washed the lasers with alcohol, I downloaded the latest firmware. I tried other dvd's. No changes. Same symptoms persist. I do get audio. I'm wired through a Onkyo AVR on HDMI (through) to a Panasonic. I'm inclined to think I lost a laser.
I don't get any display menus, status, Setup doesn't do anything. I can't check the firmware version...These are all video issues.
The new Firmware will not load. The instructions for loading the Firmware outline the procedure. The outline offers no help for my dilemma. All I get is a message ending in the single word "STOP". Then basically the only option is to remove the cd, and power down.
