Not sure,but IIRC, Proton came out simultaneously with the Sony Pro Feel component tv sets in the early 80's. Monitor was separate from electronics. Remember selling.them and a 19 inch crt was almost $2k! Beautiful picture at the time though. Probably a remnant of the system.
