I know there is a HUGE difference between the front and rear speakers when stereo music when it is played in the Dolby mode but in the "Matrix" mode, if there is a difference, it's subtle. I'm trying to decide whether to split my signals between two amplifiers (front and rear) prior to the amps or just use the Matrix mode to drive the rear speakers.
