Many feel NEX-6 is actually the better camera than the flagship NEX-7, and its new 16-50mm kit lens is reportedly a very nice improvement. $1000 including the 16-50mm lens is a nice price, and there exist all kinds of adapters to use NEX with M42/Leica and pretty much any legacy lens one can think of.Ships in November.
As far as Canon, I am a Canon user and shoot 5D MkIII, but Canon has been lagging behind others too much in sensor tech, i.e. Sony, Nikon (using Sony sensors), and Fuji. Canon also tends to overcharge for what one gets, i.e. $800 body-only EOS-M they announced that still uses the tired old 18 MP sensor..
