Black is beautiful ?

I've been told that when painting a HT room which utilizes a front projector, the ceiling should be black. Is it generally a good idea to paint all the walls a dark color as well as using black for the ceiling ? I would imagine if the answer is yes, that a flat or eggshell paint would be best. Ambient light should not be much of a factor since I plan on installing mini blinds which claim to be 99% effective against visible light. Opinions please.....
