Hi Dave,It is probably one of two things.
Either you are not playing the 5.1 soundtrack of the DVD (often there is a 5.1 and a two channel mix). This can usually be set via the DVD menus or by pushing the "AUDIO" button on the remote.
Or the DVD is not set properly. I'm not sure what 6 channel means, maybe the DVD player has 6 channel outputs and is outputting the an analog signal to them. For 5.1 the digital output should be set to DD or AC3 bitstream or whatever it may be called, but NOT PCM and the DTS output should also be turned on for DTS.
