I was looking for my first DVD player and had narrowed it down to the Pioneer DV-05 and the Sony DVP-S7700. I decided on the Pioneer because I thought the picture quality as viewed on a 36" Sony XBR was better. The Sony appears to function more quickly in search and scan features. I've had the Pioneer DV-05 for a litter over a year now and am very satisfied with it. The Pioneer DV-09 should be even better.
