Thanks for the replies.I'm slowly realizing there isn't much below $1000 in the way of HT pre/pro units. I've done some more digging and have come up with a few at or under $1200. Parasound, Rotel, the Sherwood Newcastle. I'll have a look into these.
Are there any units that stand out in the used market under, say, $1200? I realize that the quickly evolving formats make older processors a bit less attractive, but I've had good luck finding nice values in used audio gear.
