To Sub or not to Sub?

206.222.245.129

My new system consists of a sherwood DVD processor/player connected to a Myryad T-50 pre-amp through its 5.1 output. The system is powered by a Myryad T-70 5-channel amp.

My speaker's (Reynaud Twins) frequency response is rated at 55Hz-22KHz. Since I do not have a subwoofer at present, I have set all speakers to LARGE. What is the recommended setting for the speakers if I wish to connect a powered subwoofer?

If I set the speakers as small, is the crossover point controlled by the DVD player or at the powered sub?

How do I achieve smooth transition of low frequency sounds from the
mains to the subwoofer? -i.e. which of the following options will work best -
a. bi-wire the mains and the sub at the speaker level of the amp
b. connect the sub to the line-level out of the DVD
c. connect the mains through the subwoofer with a LARGE speaker setting.
