Try going on the avscience site avsforum.com and asking under either crt projectors or lcd, dila, dlp projectors. I find that there are mostly audiophiles here which is why it is my favorite site. If you want to get a lot of responses to that kind of question, you are going to have to go to one of those sites. But my answer is it depends on the technology that you want to use. The Sony VW10, forget the rest of the numbers but that is what the dealers call it any way, is one of the hotest lcd models out because it has 16:9 panels and does native 720p. Infocus 350, Marantz 8000, and Dreamvision are some of the popular dlp models. CRT are still the best but the focus has shifted from this technology. On the horizon this year are 16:9 dlp projectors that can do hdtv. This should be a very interesting year. JVC is getting a lot of attention because it's DILA technology currently offers higher resolution than DLP 1 chip projectors. One problem with the new tecnologies is black level. Stewart seems to have address this with there new grayhawk material for their film screens which greatly improves contrast and black levels or so I have been told. This year is going to be the year I take the plunge as I expect to see screen and projector combinations that sell for less than many of the popular 65 inch rear projecton televisons offered this year.
