Hi all,I have an amp with inputs for 5.1 channels, but no DD/DTS circuitry. I thought this would give me the best 2-channel sound, so I could later upgrade to 5-channel via a DVD with DD/DTS decoding built-in. I would also use this as my primary CD player for the time being.
Here's the problem: everyone talks about the DSP circuitry adding distortion to the sound. So according to electronics logic, having the DD/DTS circuitry in the player would only serve to introduce noise *before* amplification, thereby making the distortion worse. Am I correct here? Would this type of setup be bad for CD audio output, or would the DVD unit's DSP circuitry be completely "dark" during CD playback?
In addition, what is the best all-around DVD/CD player w.r.t. sound quality (and also the ability to play CD-Rs)? I appreciate your advice.
