What is "5.1 analog" bypass?

134.67.6.24

I always associate 5.1 w/ the digital domain.

I understand you can have surround in analog (e.g., dolby prologic).

But "5.1 analog bypass" suggests (to me) an analog source with 5.1 channels. How is that possible?

Just curious...I tend to favor analog by pass in A/V preamps simply because I have alot invested in both my tuner and my turntable and wish to avoid A/D and D/A conversion. But I always am thinking "2-channel."

thanks.
