Re: DIVX

I read with interest the various news reports re DIVX throughout its brief life. One thing I consistently noted was the articles ref'd to the owners of DIVX as Circuit City, and a Los Angleles law firm. I was always interested in why no one ever mentioned the name of the firm in question. Now I hear that DIVX has tanked.

Having suffered from the law industry's "deep pockets" approach to law suits (i.e., so what you had nothing to do with a problem, we're sueing everyone), I have come to believe that Shakespear got it right long ago when he said "kill the lawyers" It gives me some small pleasure in knowing that this unnamed law firm now is paying a penalty for adding nothing but confusion to the emergance of DVD technolgy. Perhaps that is petty, but it is tough to generate much sympathy for these guys.
