It is a rear projection, 53" HDTV ready TV that costs about $2,800. It is fairly slim, and 2 people carried it no problem into my small studio apartment. The picture is BREATHTAKING, especially considering Sony's DRC technology which triples line resolution, or something like this. There are NO LINES to speak of!!! My budget was originally $1,500 but Circuit City offered no interest payments for a year (I had to apply for the credit thing which took 5 minutes). My wife got pissed, but I HAD TO HAVE IT! I must be crazy! Anyone who is in the market for a rear projection TV has got to check out this Sony model. It trounces TV's that cost 3 times as much!!! Check out the reviews at audioreview.com Good luck man!
