Can someone help me understand which box needs to process the video signal to get a progressive scan picture? Some TV sales guys tell me that if the tv is HD ready, it will re-process the signal from any source to do progressive scanning. Some others say you need to input a progressive scan signal to get a progressive scan picture so you need a DVD player with progressive scan in order to get the benefit. The tv's I'm considering are the Hitachi 53SDX01B and the Toshiba 55HX70. The Hitachi has something called "Flex Converter" which they say provides "full time progressive scan (480p)". The Toshiba has something called "Digital Vector Progressive Scanning" and "1080i/480p native display".
