The only Musical A/V receiver on the market today in any price range is YAMAHA. If you need convincing of this, go to any self respecting Hi-Fi shop and compare the sound quality in 2 channel stereo. Then switch to surround mode, Yamaha offers the only true surround environments. They actually went around the world and measured the accoustic properties of the real rooms that are in the DSP engine. They have a new one out, the RX-V620 @499 retail. This puppy has an amazing amount of technology in it, including an all digital pre-amp that keeps digital signals in the digital domain until the final output stage. Also Analog signals stay in Analog domain. You would be surprised to know how many receivers must convert their signals back and forth several times just to get the signal through the unit, simply because of their architecture. Yamaha also design's and manufactures all their own DSP processing chips, everyone else uses the Motorola chip, which you aleady have in your microwave oven.
